Surfing
Esterillos Oeste is a well-known surfing beach. It is the most popular of the Esterillos beaches, but usually doesn’t get too busy. Experienced surfers come here to take on the beach break, but it’s also a good spot for those just starting out. You will find a few different surf shops in town that offer lessons and board rentals.
We are 100% local, Aloha Surf is formed by my wife, my 3-year-old son and me, I am Jorge Bolandi I have 28 years of experience as a surfer, 6 years as a certified lifeguard, renewing my knowledge every year with training. For us, security is first. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need to know about the sea conditions in Esterillos Oeste, remember to be very careful when the low tide is starting, you can be caught by a current. When visiting a beach ask locals for the tide schedule, and a safe place to swim.
We are located in the beach town of Esterillos Oeste on the central pacific coast of Costa Rica. We started in 2003 with 2 longboards and since then have ruined the lives of more than 4,000 new surfers - people that have never surfed before - and can ruin your life too... until all you dream about is waves.
Esterillos is one of the last bastions of less developed surf rich areas in Costa Rica. Esterillos Oeste (West) has a wide range of waves for any type of surfer, from beginner to pro. This is a south-facing beach with bits of reef, which mixes into a small sand bay and out into miles upon miles of beachbreak. When Esterillos Oeste is good, several variations of waves will light up and everyone within striking distance descends upon the A-frame peaks on offer.
